Push Mail (maybe I am wrong, but probably) started off with BlackBerry handheld and BlackBerry mail. Besides the fact that especially for corporate solutions BlackBerry is much too expensive, now having the Nokia e61 I cannot imagine BlackBerry RIM still being there in a few years from now …
Thus when I acquired my e61 I went out to look for a different and foremost cheaper solution. And I found. The solution is called Morange which also happens to be the company name of the young Singapore based enterprise.
What is Morange? Morange is a Java based application which works with most Java enabled phones, thus for sure with the e61. Although the primary function is push email, Morange offers a lot more :
- push RSS (first PUSH RSS solution I have seen) : you can subscribe to any RSS feed. There is a standard list to pick from, but you can easily add any feed you like. When connected new RSS messages are automatically pushed to your mobile.
- remote desktop access : Morange comes with a desktop version. When logged in on your desktop you can access your files on your hard disks from any place in the world from your e61.
- instant messaging : the solution also allows you to chat with other Morange users, but you can also simply add your MSN account to the chat list. They (personally) promised me that Skype will be up soon
- remote web cam : by using the remote desktop application, Morange also allows you to access your web cam remotely, or you install one of the many available web cams on the net.
Note. for a further description of the funactionalities please go here.
According to Morange : “MORANGE combines the world’s finest and first-ever integrated mobile experience in just one application”. And I must admit, there is some truth in it.
When signed up, Morange offers a convenient portal to manage your most important properties, like your RSS feeds.
Morange is offered as corporate solution (and can work with Lotus Notes), but you can also simply use it for any personal POP account you might have. Moreover, you can integrate any number of email accounts up to a count of 10. These will then all be pushed to your e61.
Simple steps to take
- Sign up with Morange
- Download both the client (should be v2.6.5) and the desktop version, and install
- In the account list under email - add all your POP accounts you like to have pushed
- That’s it
Are there any disadvantages? Yes there are. The integration of the attachments with the phone is not optimal. Basically you can only open Word documents in Morange itself. However, Morange will allow you to download any of your attachments directly to your phone. After download you can open them from your e61 using the filemanager.
BTW. support is quite good. Given that it is a young company / application I could easily find some “child deceases”, but after being reported, they almost fixed it an instant.

Thank you so much for the little review of this software! I have found that it is a formidable replacement to the more pricey Profimail.
Cheers!

Good app but one problem is that there’s no tinkle/buzz whenever new mails come in.
Kimmi,
Actually there is.
If under email you go to settings you can choose one of the following options (or all three together) : (when receiving a new email)
1) bring to foreground
2) enable vibration
3) enable backlight flashing
Let me know if this solves your problem.
Hi Beemer,
I wonder what’s wrong here. I couldn’t see anything other than under email\settings…
I’ve tried reinstalling the app again, doesn’t seem to work
ahhhhh… so, dumb of me.. haha..
Found it found it! thanks man!
Hi there,
And sometimes the app. is a bit slow.
I’ve installed Morange to see if it is any good. It looks nice.
I like the fact that it has a lot of features in one product.
I noticed that is very memory consuming. About 10 Mb on my E61!
I’ll see what happens the next couple of days of more usage.

One other thing I noticed:
Wouter
There is no html support for the mail. Too bad….
Hi wouterk, Morange takes only less than 1.5MB of RAM on my E61….
I tried a program called Emoze a few months ago. To use it you had to have your computer on and I believe Outlook running for the push email side of it to work. Does Morange need your computer on for the push email to work?
Hi Jeb,
No your computer doesn’t have to be on for Morange. It will just push your email as soon there is email for you. It works great but it is rather limited.
No html, no properties of the email, some filtering but not enough (for my needs). Still a nice product though.

Hi Livecn,
That is strange? Less then 1.5 Mb? On mine it went down to 6mb which is still too much. I sent a support request about it and they will try to solve it.
Which modules do you have installed? I’ve Mail, RSS, PIM and Chat.

Found this app last night and have been using it with my nk6300, I only wish there was a way to minimise or hide the program if i needed to go to another application, unlike the smartphones like the e61, this doesnt have a dedicated menu key, none the less its a good application
